Curcuma Angustifolia is a species in the genus Curcuma which contains approximately 92 to 96 species and belongs to the family of the Zingiberaceae (Ginger Family). The perennials reach heights of 1 to 1.5 metres, evergreen and native to the Himalaya and India. The rhizomes of tikhur have great medicinal value are used externally as well as internally. The powder of rhizomes with honey is applied on the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, in stomatitis. It also promotes the healing of stomach ulcers. Internally, Tikhur is used in various diseases. It is extremely beneficial in diarrhea, dysentery and colitis as it is astringent and also as a nourishing food for infants,
